DAY 2: SUNDAY, 2 APRIL 2017 – JAYDIN PRINS: penguins and beach

After all the excitement of the first evening, we had a slow start to the day.  At breakfast our friends surprised us with gifts from home.  It was a lovely gesture and our spirits were high. We were ready for our first excursion of the camp – a peaceful day at the beach, watching penguins at Betty’s Bay and lunch at Gordons Bay.

The drive to Betty’s Bay proofed to be a perfect opportunity to learn to know individual people on a more personal level.  The German students asked many questions on what they have seen on the journey which was a sign to me that they were really interested to know more about South Africa. At Betty’s Bay, they really enjoyed watching the penguins as they took many pictures.

The rest of the day was spent at Gordon’s Bay where we swam and played games, showing our German friends what South Africans would normally do on a Sunday at the beach.  We ate fish and chips, typical South African food, followed by ice cream.

The day was well placed on the programme, not threatening.  It was a beautiful, relaxing day and allowed us time to grow closer to each other.
