DAY 12: WEDNESDAY, 12 APRIL 2017 – NICOLE HUMAN: polishing

We started the rehearsal all over again.  We were so proud of our outside performance and could not wait it show it to our parents, but unfortunately, the weather forecasted heavy rains for the next day and Mrs Markram wanted to plan for every eventuality.  The group was not too keen on doing the production inside at all.  We had so much fun outside.  Also, we did not know that the production inside would be entirely different to the outside one.  At first, I could not understand why, but Mrs Markram said that it would lack a thread, linking the story into a tight unit.  I did not understand to what she was referring to, but I did not complain.  Furthermore, we needed links this time to maintain the unity in the story.

The entire day was allocated to get the second production running and we worked very hard.  It really tested our endurance, stamina and patience.  I want to say hats off to everyone who never complained, never switched off or moaned if they had to repeat things for the umpteenth time.  We were true professionals.  That day, we really showed that we are dedicated drama students. We came on the camp to do drama and that is exactly what we did.

The inside performance was beautiful.  It tied the loose pieces into a story and followed the character from the beginning to the end.  I liked it very much and when we stopped rehearsals late that afternoon, I had a sense of achievement and pride.  I also overcame my fear of doubting myself when I am on stage.  I felt safe amongst the actors and knew that we would be fine the next day.
