Living in Berlin

After the family weekend we went to Berlin by train. From the train station to our hostel we followed Mr. Keeser, who showed us the way. Our hostel was not a normal one –  it was a houseboat! Thanks to Sascha from Berlin, who organized this special place for us. In the evening he also showed us a wonderful Morrocan restaurant near our sleeping place. After supper and a short night we all went through Berlin wearing black clothes and carrying many old suitcases on Monday morning. That must have looked funny! Our destiny was the youth club Arche, where we performed first. Fortunately  we had a short break with rolls, apples and cheese after the performance, because our journey went on: Our next performance was only a few hours later on Alexanderplatz. For all of us this was an extremely new experience performing at such a huge, famous place. We could hardly imagine us performing there, but actually we did.

Afterwards we brought our funny stuff like old suitcases and black clothes back to the houseboat and moved on without so much stuff to carry around. Nobody of us students knew where we were going. But soon we had reached our destiny: the Reichstag. Or at least we thought we had reached our destiny. Because we still went on. We also looked at the Kanzleramt. But even this was not our final destiny. A few moments later we found ourselves 204m higher. From the TV tower we could look down at Berlin. Each building for itself looked pretty small, but the whole city still was huge. From there we could also see Alexanderplatz. Some hours ago we had just performed there and now, on top of the tower, we could actually realize how big the place was. The day ended up in a brilliant beer garden.

After this unique experience on Alexanderplatz we had our last performance on Tuesday morning in the Sisyphos. It is a beautiful hidden place somewhere in Berlin. After our performance there we ate there as well and had a video workshop on the topic “connection”. In three groups we took pictures of ourselves and every outcome was completely different.

We spent our afternoon in another small hidden beautiful BBQ-place somewhere in Berlin next to the river Spree. It was a relaxed afternoon with Pizza and some of us also went into the river, but only with their feet.

Wednesday was our last day in Berlin. First we visited the wall museum right next to the houseboat and afterwards we went on a boat trip on the Spree. Fortunately we did not have to carry all our stuff, because a friend of Mr. Blum’s brought our things to the main station for us by car. Finally we bought some food and souvenirs at the main station in Berlin and left for Munich, for Oberschleißheim again.
